The Fire TV Stick Lite could be Amazon’s next cheap streaming TV dongle

While cutting the cord has become more and more popular over the years, COVID-19 has dramatically boosted how much media people are streaming from the Internet at home. Cheap streaming TV devices like Amazon’s Fire TV lineup are the most popular gateways to cutting the cord, as these devices allow you to watch all of your favorite TV shows and movies from your streaming services of choice without any hassles. The Fire TV Stick 4K costs just $50, for example, and it offers basically everything the average consumer could ask for. While that’s already pretty cheap, Amazon seems to be preparing an even cheaper model, potentially called the Fire TV Stick Lite, to replace the standard 1080p Fire TV Stick (which is not available anymore at the time of this writing).

Images of the device come from German leaker Ronald Quandt over at WinFuture, and the device itself looks very, very similar to the standard Fire TV Stick, but with a few key differences. The stick itself has a simplified Amazon arrow logo like the 4K model does, and the remote, while looking very similar, does away with buttons like on/off while adding new ones like a television button at the bottom, though we’re not yet sure what that does exactly. Otherwise, the layout is very similar to what we’ve seen before.

As for the Fire TV Stick Lite itself, we don’t have any technical details to share right now, but given that it’s likely one tier below the existing Fire TV Stick 4K, we’re guessing it will only support up to 1440p or, more likely, 1080p content. The device comes with a power brick, a micro USB cable, an HDMI extension, and two AAA batteries for the controller. So overall, pretty standard stuff. As for pricing, the Fire TV Stick 4K is $50, so we’re expecting this Fire TV Stick Lite to be priced below that, making for a great bargain for those that want a cheap streaming TV stick.
